About the Sponsor

As official organizer for this event,  Phoenix Art Workshop has been directly involved in supporting the arts community in the lower mainland for the past 18 years.  Under the the umbrella of Phoenix Art Workshop, the TravellingBrush.com has been promoting plein air painting, leading exotic international painting excursions to destinations such as Cuba, Guatemala, China, Spain, Italy, Bali, and Peru, with plans to visit Greece, Turkey, Vietnam and Cambodia in 2017.  Our adventures in 2016 will see a return to one of our most popular locations, Cuba, with instructor Andrew McDermott and Mike Radford, followed by a trip to Peru with instructor Shary Bartlett and to Vietnam and Cambodia with Annie Tsai to wind up our 2016 schedule in November.  In 2010 Phoenix Art Workshop was awarded the City of Richmond’s “Business and the Arts Award” for our contribution to arts and culture.  We look forward to many more years supporting unique art communities both locally and internationally.

The Phoenix Art Workshop is a community resource for art supplies, custom framing, and fine arts education. The shop, privately run by Mark Glavina, offers classes for both youth and adults, emphasizing visual literacy, design, and individual creativity. Focused largely on painting and drawing mediums, the Phoenix Art Workshop is also committed to working with the community on public art projects. A sample of these can be viewed on the Community Art page of the site.
