Shannon Thiesen is a visual artist living in Coquitlam, B.C., and also a 5th grade teacher in Abbotsford. Live painting competitions saw Thiesen representing BC in the 2016 and 2017 Art Battle Canada National Championships in Toronto. She is also the 2016 Young Distinguished Alumni award winner from the University of the Fraser Valley, the 2016 Abbotsford Arty Award winner in visual arts, and holds a Masters of Education degree. Thiesen has completed several massive outdoor murals in the lower mainland in recent years. Her favourite subject matter includes West Coast plein air landscapes, portraiture and our more-than-human neighbours.
Born in Ontario and now living in North Vancouver B.C., Louise Nicholson is a passionate painter of figures and landscapes in oils and acrylics. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Simon Fraser University and worked in the medical field. Louise paints whenever she can now, dividing her studio time between wildlife and abstract pursuits. She finds great spots for plein air painting when she is walking her dog, her other favourite activity.
Chris is primarily a plein air watercolour painter, working in the incredible forest landscapes of BC. He has recently received Signatory Associate Status (AFCA) with the Federation of Canadian Artists, and is looking forward to returning to Steveston for another incredible day of painting.

Michael King is a Canadian painter and art instructor who specializes in oil painting with a focus on plein air (outdoor) painting which guides his larger studio works. Orion Alexis is a painter who rediscovered art during the pandemic. He mainly paints in watercolour and occasionally oil. He enjoys plein air painting and makes use of the good weather to paint whenever he can.
Ann started her journey as an elementary school teacher with a love of art. Upon moving to Vancouver,
she switched careers and enjoyed many years as a successful financial advisor before retiring, moving
into her cottage on the North Shore and rediscovering her love of painting. She draws inspiration from
the buildings and landscapes that surround her from France, to the Gulf Islands and recreates them in
acrylic on canvas.

I have been involved in art from childhood and studied Fine Arts through school and University, then taught in schools and colleges. After retirement I was able to devote more time to both painting and pottery, two of my passions. I'm blessed to have a group of friends who enjoy getting out for plein air painting, especially this event in Steveston, with it wealth of great scenes!
Jose. De Juan is an avid plein air painter. He works in the visual effects industry in Vancouver but his passion has always been capturing moments of light in oil and watercolor. He studied design in his native Spain but his painterly pursuits took him to take workshops with some working artists, mostly in California, in order to see the magic up close and reach further. He likes the work that says more with less and let's nature win the day.

John is a Vancouver Island native, was born and raised with a passion for art. Through classical training from both his family and Kawantlen College, he cultivated his artistic skills. With a keen interest in commercial design, sculpture, and mixed media, John has developed a versatile repertoire of artistic abilities. His talent has been acknowledged and celebrated through numerous award shows, and his work has been published and even featured on Jimmy Kimmel's platform.
I have been a full time artist for nearly six years. I specialize in marine subject matter, as well as landscapes and rural scenes. I am currently represented by a number of galleries and have conducted several workshops and demonstrations for several art groups and associations. I am currently a resident of Cloverdale BC.

Born in Dortmund, Germany, Tom moved to Canada at a young age and lived in Northern B.C. for 14 years where his passion for art was fuelled. After graduating from the graphic arts program at Langara College, Tom then attended BCIT in the Architectural and Building Technology Program and graduated with a Architectural Design Major. While pursuing his business career, Tom continued painting and drawing after hours at home. Tom now focuses the majority of his time to art. He works mainly in Acrylics, Gouache, Watercolour and pencil. Tom has won numerous awards for his paintings and drawings as well as juried selections in B.C. arts competitions.

The subjects of her paintings are mostly landscapes and bigger than life florals. Ann is known for her impressionistic, loose style of painting, characterized by thick paint, harmonious color and visible brushstrokes. She is a Senior Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and an Associate Member of Oil Painters of America, and has won numerous awards at shows and Plein Air Festivals throughout her career.
Born in Chile, Nino Muñoz emigrated to Canada with his wife and family in the late 70s. He is a retired Mechanical Engineering Designer.
Nino studied Jewelery Art and Design at Vancouver Community College in the 90s and had a jewelery business in Chile.
During retirement, Nino started to explore painting and took his first classes at Phoenix Art Studio and has taken online courses by artists from England, Australia and the USA. He enjoys working with oil water base and acrylic.

Hailing from North Vancouver, the environment is easy to get lost in and a huge inspiration for Plein Air. I use Plein Air and landscapes paintings as environmental studies for my narrative work in the studio. I've been actively showing and selling since 2001 and am an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and am represented by a few BC galleries. I currently teach art The John Braithwaite Community Centre in North Vancouver.

born in Tehran, Iran where his early childhood interest in art blossomed. After studying graphic art and design, he pursued his career as a world recognised watercolourist and instructor. As an award-winning artist, Javid has participated in several watercolour competitions and has had solo exhibitions in Istanbul, Japan, and Switzerland, and group exhibitions in Russia and Albania. He received the excellence award from the Museum of Kyoto, Japan in 2015, and Meran Pakistan University in 2016.
