Richmond's Bicycle Valet will be set up at Britannia Heritage Shipyards National Site, our host location and hub of celebrations. This breathtakingly beautiful historic park hosts the exhibition of freshly created artwork, our award ceremony, live music, food trucks, and the Artisan Market featuring demonstrations and workshops.

Crabgrass is a Vancouver string band that takes its name from the plucky weed that just won’t quit. Its repertoire runs from traditional bluegrass and country to folk, blues, country swing and jazz standards. Crabgrass features Kerry Richardson (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Maurice Bridge (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Lewis Silberberg (acoustic lap-steel and Dobro slide guitar), and Val Dean (violin).

Murphy and the Cats

Murphy and the Cats are a talented duo of young Jazz musicians in period costume performing music from the 1920’s and 1930’s.

On violin, percussion, guitar, ukulele, standup bass and kazoo, these cool hepcats will put a smile on your face as they send you back in time. Seasoned performers, they have performed at many festivals and events throughout BC. Recent highlights include the Vancouver Jazz Festival (on a boat!), Whistler Children’s Art Festival, Burnaby Village Museum, London Heritage Farm, Coquitlam’s Dumpling Festival, Burnaby Summer Stages Festival, Ladner May Days, Main Street Festival, Mackin House Museum, Cypress Mountain, and the Fort Langley Jazz Festival.

(RJG) has been turning wood for more than 10 years and his love of wood shows in his creations. A student of renowned master turner David Ellsworth, Robert strives to let the wood speak through his designs and utilizes local reclaimed hardwoods and non toxic oil and wax finishes. Most of the wood used in Robert’s turned pieces has been sourced through family and friends on Galiano Island and the lower mainland of British Columbia. Robert hopes that by combining art and utility in his pieces people will enjoy his creations for many years.

WoodCraft and Art Studios was founded by Stacey Baker, a born and raised Richmond resident. Stacey's previous careers include being an executive chef and butcher who graduate from the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts on Granville Island in Vancouver. After suffering a career ending injury Stacey had to find a new path. Woodworking allowed him to continue enjoying his creative love of the arts. At WoodCraft and Art Studios, Stacey designs and makes a variety of wood pieces ranging from wall hangings, light boxes, chess boards and unique playing pieces that are all made by hand, and a few tools. Stacey's moto is that there is no limits to what can be made at WoodCraft and Art Studios.

Foxy Verve Atelier is the brain child of artist Fiadh, encapsulating an inventive assemblage of hand crafted visual, wearable, & experimental art. Foxy Verve Atelier houses four distinctive artistic manifestations: Bodacious Butterflies, Illumine Ore, Labyrinthine Line, & Chromatic Crochetier. Bodacious Butterflies are handmade real butterfly & moth wing jewelry. All specimens are ethically sourced & are not taken out of the natural environment thus eliminating any ecological impact. The wings are encapsulated in either a resin process the artist developed or in glass using stained glass arts techniques. All findings used are sterling silver & 14k gold filled. Illumine Ore is fine hand fabricated silversmithing, goldsmithing, precious & semi-precious stone setting, 3D design, lost wax casting, mokumé gane, hand forging, hollow form, & water cast jewelry. Labyrinthine Line is digital illustration & photography. All digital illustration is drawn using Procreate, ipad Pro, & apple pencil. All photography is taken using a variety of cell phone, digital, & analogue cameras. Chromatic Crochetier is handmade crochet, arigurumi, & fiber art. A variety of materials are utilized including acrylic yarn, felt, embroidery floss, safety eyes & cheeks, & polyester fiber fill.

Works of art from the day will be on display at Britannia Heritage Shipyards National Historic Site’s Seine Net Lot building. The Penta Building Group exhibition will open to the public at 3pm immediately following the Award Ceremony. Visitors can cast their ballots for the Penta People’s Choice Award for their favourite work of art. Works are on display and for sale until 5:30 pm on Saturday and again on Sunday July 23, from 10am to 4pm when all sold paintings are available for pick up.

Bike Lock Valet 

Richmond Bike Lock will be on location at Britannia Heritage Shipyards National Historic Site secure your eco-friendly transportation so you and your family can enjoy the exhibition, artist market, live music and food trucks.

How The Bike Lock Works

It’s simple!  Ride your bike to the Grand Prix of Art and we’ll take care of the rest. Just like a coat-check, we’ll tag your bike and provide you with a claim stub.

Enjoy the event, and bring back the claim stub when you want your bike returned.  You can even leave your helmet or panniers on your bike (securely attached of course).
