Check out 130 artists painting in thirty-five painting locations, spread across the majestic Steveston waterfront, from London Landing to to Garry Point Park. The best way to see this event is by bike, Richmond's Bicycle Valet will be set up at our host location and hub of celebrations at Britannia Heritage Shipyards National Site. This breathtakingly beautiful historic park hosts the exhibition of freshly created artwork, our award ceremony, live music, food trucks, and the Artisan Market featuring demonstrations and workshops.

Saturday, July 27, 2023

10:00am: Artists begin painting in the three-hour art race
Noon: Artisan Market opens in the Festival Field at Britannia Shipyards:  Demonstrations, Food Trucks, Shopping, and Live Music
12:30pm: Nikita Alfonso performs at the Tourism Richmond Artisan Festival Stage
1:00pm: Artists return their work to Britannia Shipyards for display, and enjoy lunch at the artist’s picnic
1:00pm: Crabgrass performs at the Tourism Richmond Artist Picnic Area
2:00pm: Silk Screen Demonstration by Tina Ozols at the Artisan Market
2:30pm: Blue Dirt Girl performs on the Tourism Richmond Artisan Festival Stage
2:30pm: RBC Artist Award Ceremony at the Artist Picnic Area
3:00pm: Penta Builders Group Artist Exhibition Opens.  Cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award!
4:30pm: Artisan Market closes
5:30pm: Exhibition closes

10:00am: Penta Builders Group Artist Exhibition Opens
2:00pm:  Moira Chicilo performs at the Penta Exhibition in the Siene Net loft.
3:30pm: People’s Choice Award and Closing Ceremony
4:00pm: Artwork pick up

Penta Building Group Exhibition

Works of art from the day will be on display at Britannia Heritage Shipyards National Historic Site’s Seine Net Lot building. The Penta Building Group exhibition will open to the public at 3pm immediately following the Award Ceremony. Visitors can cast their ballots for the Penta People’s Choice Award for their favourite work of art. Works are on display and for sale until 5:30 pm on Saturday and again on Sunday July 23, from 10am to 4pm when all sold paintings are available for pick up.

Richmond Bike Lock

Richmond Bike Lock will be on location at Britannia Heritage Shipyards National Historic Site secure your eco-friendly transportation so you and your family can enjoy the exhibition, artist market, live music and food trucks.

How The Bike Lock Works

It’s simple!  Ride your bike to the Grand Prix of Art and we’ll take care of the rest. Just like a coat-check, we’ll tag your bike and provide you with a claim stub.

Enjoy the event, and bring back the claim stub when you want your bike returned.  You can even leave your helmet or panniers on your bike (securely attached of course).
